What is the content of the training?

Yoga Alliance is the credentialing board for yoga certification. This governing body has established 4 core competencies and divided the 200 hour training requirements into the 4 competencies as follows:
Anatomy,Physiology,Biomechanics (includes physical anatomy, chakras and koshas-energetic anatomy) 30 hours
Philosophy/Ethics/History (includes lineage, 8 limbs of yoga, Yamas and Niyamas, Ethical touch) 30 hours
Techniques/Teaching/Practice (includes asana, meditation, pranayama) 75 hours
Professional Essentials (includes practicum, teaching methodology, career strategies and classroom dynamic teaching skills) 65 hours

What is the size of this Yoga Teacher Training?

Third Eye Chakra Tribe is capped at 11 students. Online YTT is capped at 42 students. (Interested in doing the entire training and certification online- still earning 24 NCBTMB approved CEs for LMBTs? Click here:

Which styles of yoga will be covered in the training?

We will deeply explore The 8 limbs of Hatha-Raja Yoga. Students will graduate with mastery of the 12 foundational Hatha Poses, as well as Namaskar A. Emphasis will be on Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Sally is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, so the richness of that topic has been infused into the online training. This training will meet you where you are and deepen the skills you need to be an excellent teacher on and off the mat. “Yoga is a journey of the self, to the self, through the self.”

What if I miss a day of training? Will I still graduate?

Yes. During this strange Pandemic time, Yoga Alliance has approved me for online teaching. This means if you miss a class in person, you can make up the content online. A classmate will share her/his notes with you.

What are the required readings for the training? Is there a training manual?

“Yoga:The Spirit of Moving Into Stillness” by Erich Schiffmann and “Teaching Yoga: Essential Foundations and Techniques” by Mark Edgar Stephens are required. The Four Agreements, Mastery of Self, Peace is Every Step and The Book of Awakening are recommended but not required. We will read Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras together via video lecture. There is a 74 page training manual which will be emailed to you when you sign up.

What if I’m injured, out of shape, or not as flexible as I once was?

Your physical “weaknesses”, injuries and limitations are what will make you a great teacher. Asana (physical postures) is 1/8 of yoga and will make up only 1/4 of our training. Not having the physique seen on the cover of Yoga Journal or not being able to beast through the sequences you see on Instagram are what makes you the perfect teacher- bringing the wisdom of yoga to real people in real life who will benefit greatly from your authentic sharing and modifying of poses with props and verbal cues that make it accessible to all.
